THE PHILOSOPHY OF ARGUMENTATION

The fourth edition of the PhilArg workshop aims to continue the investigation of the philosophical foundations of argumentation theory, and, in particular, to examine further its links with linguistics and the philosophy of language. We are especially interested again this year in the evaluation of arguments, as well as in the role of rhetoric and the development of identity in argumentation. We remain open to submissions to present innovative research on all aspects of argumentation, broadly understood.

Please follow the instructions for submission of abstracts and registration found on the main conference page here and check regularly for more details. The conference is scheduled for 12-14 May, but the PhilArg workshop will likely run for the first two days, 12-13 May, only.

Presentations will last 30 minutes, including 10 minutes for discussion. We intend to maintain our tradition of publishing selected papers from the workshop and we have arranged for a special issue of the journal Informal Logic. See the Archive for a library of past publications.

We are delighted to announce that our plenary speaker will be Fabrizio Macagno, Nova University, Lisbon.

Please note that the workshop is part of the main conference, and organisational matters are dealt with on the main conference page.
