Polsko-niemiecka nagroda Copernicus 2022 dla badaczki Holocaustu z UŁ

Prof. dr hab. Krystyna Radziszewska from the Institute of German Philology, University of Lodz has been awarded the Polish-German Scientific Award COPERNICUS 2022. She received it together with prof. Sascha Feuchert, University of Giessen for their joint research on the Holocaust. The award is presented by the Foundation for Polish Science and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation).

This year the jury of the award has/have decided to award achievements of prof. Radziszewska and prof. Feuchert in the field of their research into literary testimonies from the Jewish ghetto in Lodz/Litzmannstadt, which has made a significant contribution to the reconstruction of day-to-day life and Jewish culture in the ghetto. The jury especially appreciated the five-volume edition of the so-called “Ghetto Chronicle” produced in cooperation with other researchers, as well as the “Encyclopaedia” of the ghetto.

The winner of the Copernicus 2022 Award, prof. dr hab. Krystyna Radziszewska is the co-author of a book entitled "Tańczymy zaczarowany taniec młodości. Łódzka awangarda żydowska"/"Enchanted we whirl in the dance of youth. The Jewish avant-garde in Łódź and the artist books of Farlag Achrid, 1921". The publication presents three avant-garde volumes of poetry by artists from the Jung Jidysz group, published in 1921 by the Achrid publishing house in Lodz. It also contains reprints of original poetry in Yiddish and German; reprints of colour graphics from original editions; translation of poems into Polish, as well as an introduction; two scientific texts presenting the artists, the Jung Yiddish group and the Jewish avant-garde, as well as biographies of the artists. The accompanying texts are also presented in English.
