The University of Lodz is delighted to once again become involved in organising the Man in Danger Media Festival. This initiative is particularly close to us because it perfectly reflects the values that form the foundation of our university: openness, dialogue, social responsibility and placing people at the centre of attention

The Festival will be hosted by two cultural institutions in Lodz: the Film Museum in Lodz and the National Centre for Film Culture at EC1 Łódź.

The organisers have prepared special offers for students and individuals engaged in academic activities.
For organised Unilodz groups: free admission to selected screenings
Academic staff and supervisors of student science clubs may register their interest in attending the Festival together with their groups. Organised groups are eligible for free admission to festival events. Applications should be sent to: festiwal@kinomuzeum.pl, stating the number of participants.
For our students: a full festival pass for the price of a single ticket
Students of the University of Lodz can purchase a festival pass for PLN 19, granting access to all events included in the pass programme for the price of a single ticket. A valid student ID is required to make the purchase.
Festival passes will be available:
- at the ticket office of the Film Museum in Lodz, including before the Festival begins,
- at the National Centre for Film Culture ticket office during the Festival.

UniLodz Co-Creates the "Man in Danger" Media Festival
People associated with the University of Lodz are actively involved in preparing the event:
- Dr Krzysztof Grzegorzewski from the Department of Journalism and Social Communication (Faculty of Philology, University of Lodz) will serve on the jury of the video reportage competition,
- meetings with creators will be moderated by Dr Joanna Bachura-Wojtasik from the Department of Journalism and Social Communication, Dr Mateusz Żebrowski and Dr Emil Sowiński from the Department of Film and Audio-Visual Media of the Institute of Contemporary Culture (Faculty of Philology, University of Lodz),
- the Festival’s panel of experts includes Dr Ewa Linek from the Department of Middle East and North Africa (Faculty of International and Political Studies, University of Lodz) and dr hab. Wojciech Woźniak, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology for Research Development,
- translations are provided by Piotr Baleja, a doctoral student at the University of Lodz Doctoral School of Humanities,
- students of the University of Lodz participate in the Student Jury of the Reportage Competitions,
- the University of Lodz students are also involved in festival volunteering.
As every year, the University of Lodz Aleksander Kamiński Award for Overcoming Threats will be presented during the Festival.
Accompanying Event: “ZWROT – o doświadczeniu choroby, empatii i wsparciu” [TURNING POINT – On the Experience of Illness, Empathy and Support]
As in previous years, the University of Lodz’s cooperation with the Festival extends beyond the world of film and reportage. The programme also includes an exhibition prepared jointly by our University and the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź. The exhibition opening will take place on Friday, 16 October at 6.30 p.m. at Wozownia 1/5 Gallery (Franciszkańska 1/5), marking the launch of the project "ZWROT – o doświadczeniu choroby, empatii i wsparciu” [TURNING POINT – On the Experience of Illness, Empathy and Support].
The project combines art, personal stories and a scholarly perspective. It explores the changes that the experience of serious illness brings to a person’s life, raising questions about relationships with loved ones, presence in the workplace, a sense of agency and the importance of support from others. The exhibition also addresses chronic and invisible illnesses, encouraging discussion about empathy, understanding and social solidarity.
The "Man in Danger" Media Festival offers an opportunity not only to engage with important documentary cinema and reportage but also to participate in discussions concerning social, cultural and civic challenges. Thanks to the partnership with the University of Lodz, members of the academic community can take part in these conversations on particularly attractive terms. The presence of the University of Lodz is a practical example of cooperation between science and culture. We are pleased both by the involvement of our experts and by the commitment of students participating in the organisation of the Festival and helping to create its unique atmosphere.
