Konkurs na doktoranta do projektu „COTUTELLE”

University of Lodz and Justus Liebig University of Giessen invite you to take part in the "COTUTELLE" PhD student project competition, whose framework topic is Cultures and languages at the borders from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Application start date: 13 May 2024

The competition is open for anyone wishing to carry out their doctoral dissertation in the “cotutelle” mode.

We offer:

  • an international doctorate pursued simultaneously at two universities: Justus Liebieg University of Gießen and University of Lodz;
  • a one-year internship at the Justus Liebieg University in Gießen;
  • mobility allowance of EUR 1,000 for 12 months, paid by JLU Gießen;
  • assistance in finding a financially favourable place of residence.

Requirements:

  • framework topic of the dissertation, as proposed by the candidate, should be adjusted to the subject matter of the Project announced;
  • knowledge of languages: English at B2 level and one of two languages: German or Polish at min. B1 (confirmed by a certificate or a relevant philology degree).

Documents required from candidates in the competition:

  • degree certificate(s) and academic transcript(s) of undergraduate and graduate degrees, a direct Master’s degree or its equivalent (an official copy, or alternatively, a certified true copy signed by UL staff);
  • competition application form (hereinafter Application) being the Attachment to the present Rules;
  • outline of the doctoral dissertation written in one of three languages: Polish, English or German;
  • information on scientific and research activities as well as popularisation, social and organisational activities;
  • certificate (photocopy; show original for verification) or other document (with a degree/diploma, can be a photocopy if original for verification is shown; with attestation letter, original is required) testifying English language skills at B2 level (CEFR) and German or Polish language skills at B1 level or higher.

In the case of a candidate who lacks documentation of language skills, it shall be possible to hold an interview verifying the proficiency level, held by specialists from the University of Lodz Faculty of Philology and/or JLU Giessen.

Participants in the Project cannot be persons with a doctoral degree or doctoral students of a doctoral school.
